- The Setup: You are added to a “Private OTC Group” or contacted by a “Broker” (e.g., on X or Telegram).
- The Hook: They offer a great rate (e.g., selling USDT for Fiat, or buying a pre-market token).
- The Fake Safety: They refuse to send first but suggest a “Middleman” service called a “Liquidity Vault” or “Escrow Bot” to make it “safe.”
- The Sting: You send your crypto to this “Vault.”
Reality: The “Vault” is just the scammer’s personal wallet.
- The Follow-up: When you ask for your money/tokens, they claim technical issues: “The Vault requires a minimum balance of $2,000 to trigger the release. Please send $1,100 more.”

1. “Vaults” are Fiction In crypto, Liquidity Vaults are DeFi smart contracts (like on Uniswap), NOT wallets you manually send money to for a trade. If a human on Telegram asks you to “deposit into the vault,” it is 100% a scam.
2. The “Atomic” Standard Never do a manual send deal with a stranger. Real OTC deals use Atomic Swap Smart Contracts (where both sides swap instantly) or highly reputable, public escrow firms.
- Red Flag: “Trust me, bro, the bot will release it.”
3. The “Double Dip” Warning If a deal “gets stuck” and they ask for MORE money to “release” the first batch, STOP. This is the “Sunk Cost Trap.” That money is gone. Do not send a single cent more to “unlock” it.
